A website for electricians and plumbers in Perth has one job: get the call. This checklist is for trade businesses that are tired of a Facebook page, a half-finished template, or a site that hides the phone number. It is not a brand workshop. The visitor is often on a phone, often in a hurry, and often choosing between a few businesses. If they cannot see what you do, where you work, and how to reach you, the rest of the page does not matter.
The first site that covers this is usually the Starter package: $495 once-off, up to five pages, a contact form, and three months of maintenance after launch. The full tiers are on pricing. What each dollar includes is in how much a website costs in Perth.
The checklist
Use this before you brief a build, or before you decide your current site is finished. If a row is missing, that is the work.
- Click-to-call above the fold. The number is visible on a phone without scrolling. If you take after-hours work, say so. If you do not, say that too.
- Two enquiry paths. Emergency or fault calls are not the same as a quote for planned work. Separate them so the urgent caller is not filling out a renovation form.
- Services you actually do. Name the jobs. Do not publish a generic tradie list copied from a template.
- Suburbs you cover. List the corridors you will drive to. Do not publish a page for every Perth suburb you have never worked in.
- Licence and insurance, in short. An electrical contractor licence or a plumbing contractor licence, plus insurance, stated plainly. In Western Australia those licences are administered by Building and Energy.
- Photos of your work. Switchboards, hot water installs, bathrooms you actually did. Stock photos of a van that is not yours cost you trust.
- A form that arrives. Test it to the inbox you read. A form that fails is a missed job.
- A page that loads on mobile. Most of these searches happen on a phone, often with one hand free.
That is the site. A blog, a slogan, and a slider are optional. The eight items are not.
Electricians
Perth electrical searches split into urgent faults and planned work: switchboard upgrades, EV chargers, smoke alarms, solar, commercial maintenance. The homepage should make the split obvious. Builder and strata visitors are looking for licence details and a clear scope, not a brand film.
Go deeper on service categories, EC numbers, and the emergency versus quote paths on the electrician website page. Do not add suburbs you will not attend. A short, true service area beats a long fake one.
Plumbers
Plumbing traffic splits the same way, only faster when there is water on the floor. Burst flexi hoses and no hot water need a number. Bathroom renovations, gas fitting, and hot water replacements need a service page and proof you do that work. If you install specific systems, name them. If you do not offer emergency call-outs, say so before someone rings at 10pm.
The job-by-job version, including gas fitting and blocked drains, is on the plumber website page.
What to leave out
- A gallery of stock tradespeople presented as your team or your jobs
- A suburb page for places you do not serve
- The phone number buried under a full-screen photo
- A six-week brand exercise for a five-page site
- Copy that says you do every trade, if you are an electrician or a plumber and not both
WordPress is the usual platform here, because you will change a price, a suburb, or a photo yourself later. Shopify is the wrong tool unless you also sell parts online. That choice is spelled out in WordPress vs Shopify.
What it costs, and how long it waits
Starter at $495 covers a first five-page site: home, services, about, contact, and one page for the split between emergency and quotes, or for the suburbs you cover. Business at $1,495 is the step up when you need closer to ten pages, for separate residential, commercial, and emergency services.
The build moves in a matter of weeks once those pages have real content. It waits if the photos and the service list are still “we’ll send them”. Timing is covered in how long a small business website takes. We do not quote a 48-hour launch.
Next step
Tell us the trade, the suburbs you cover, and whether you take emergency calls. We will match a package, or say if you need less than a new site.
