How long does a small business website take?

Most fixed-scope projects here are delivered in a matter of weeks, once the package and your content are agreed. There is no single “live in X days” promise.

Updated 4 October 2026

How long to build a website in Perth, for a fixed-scope small business site, is a matter of weeks, not an open-ended agency calendar. This guide is for owners who want a date before they commit. We do not publish a single “live in 48 hours” or “live in 10 days” figure. The date is set when the package and your content are agreed, and we reply to a new enquiry within one business day.

The clock mostly waits on you. A five-page site with photos and a service list ready moves faster than a ten-page site still waiting on copy, or a store waiting on a product spreadsheet. Feedback rounds stay inside the scope you approved. They are not an unlimited design loop.

What actually sets the date

Four inputs decide the schedule. They are the same inputs that decide the package price.

Input What it does to the timeline
Package Starter is up to 5 pages. Business is up to 10, with a service or location structure. Online Store adds catalogue, payments, and shipping setup.
Content Service names, photos, prices, and the way customers should contact you. Missing assets pause the build.
Feedback Checkpoints are agreed up front. Extra rounds outside that scope are a new quote, not a silent delay.
Platform A brochure site on WordPress is a page build. A Shopify store waits on product data and a test order.

“A matter of weeks” is the published delivery line for most projects: scoped up front, not open-ended. It is not a guarantee that every job lands on the same Friday. A Starter site with a finished brief is the short end. A store whose photos are still being taken is the long end. You get the estimate for your job at the start, in writing, with the scope.

What the weeks are spent on

The sequence is short on purpose. Perth owners do not need a discovery phase that exists to fill a calendar.

  1. Pick a package. Starter, Business, or Online Store, or a scope that sits between them. Page count and features are agreed before design starts.
  2. Send what you have. Services, photos, offers, and how customers should get in touch. We structure the gaps. We do not stall the project for perfect copy.
  3. Build. Mobile-first pages, enquiry path, and SEO foundations (titles, structure, sitemap, schema). You review at the checkpoints in the scope.
  4. Launch. Forms tested, handover done. Then three months of free maintenance, which is support after go-live, not part of the build clock.

That third month of maintenance is there so you are not alone the week after launch. It does not mean the site takes three months to build.

What does not make a site faster

A promised overnight build usually means a template with your logo dropped on, or a date that slips as soon as you ask for a change. We will not quote one. Speed here comes from a smaller scope and fewer meetings, which is faster than a typical agency process. It still depends on content readiness and how quickly you answer the review.

If the content is not ready, the honest move is to pause, not to invent pages. A site that launches with placeholder text and stock photos of someone else’s van does not get the calls. What a tradie website needs is the same idea for electricians and plumbers: real services, a real number, suburbs you actually cover.

How to get a date for your project

Send the package you are considering, how many pages you think you need, and whether you already have photos and a service list. We will say which tier fits, or that you need less than you think, and we will put a realistic range on it before work starts.

Use the pricing page to pick a tier first if you want a number before you write. Then contact us with the suburb you serve and what the site has to do: calls, quote forms, bookings, or a small catalogue. The reply comes within one business day.

Next step

If you already know the tier, send it with your content list. If you are still choosing between $495, $1,495, and $1,995, start on pricing.

FAQs

How long does a small business website take to build?+

Most fixed-scope projects are delivered in a matter of weeks once the package and content are agreed. A five-page Starter site with assets ready is faster than a ten-page Business site or an Online Store waiting on product photos. The exact range is set at the brief, not as a slogan.

Why won’t you promise a number of days?+

Because the date moves with page count, photos, product data, and how fast feedback comes back. Publishing one number for every job would be a claim we could not keep. You still get an estimate for your scope before we start.

Does the three months of maintenance mean the build takes three months?+

No. Three months of free maintenance starts after launch. It covers the period after go-live. The build itself is the work up to that launch.
